The man behind the Svengali Experience
Shiraz Datardina founded Svengali Salon in 1992 with a clear vision of what would set Svengali apart from competing salons. “It’s all about transformations,” notes Shiraz. “That’s why we chose the name Svengali – and have worked so hard to create the Svengali Experience. There was nothing like it when we opened. And there is nothing like it now.”
It must be working as an ever growing list of clients has told Shiraz that they are attracted not just by the award-winning work of Svengali’s stylists, but also by the vibe in the salon – a result of the architecture, artwork and music carefully selected by Shiraz.
When was the last time someone said,
“ I love your hair. (and meant it)?”
Who are the clients of Svengali? Typically, the first client is a young woman, age 18-24. She is soon followed by her mother…her father… and her brother or sister – proof that Svengali’s work sells itself.
But you won’t understand completely the Svengali experience until you visit the salon. “It’s relaxed and fun,” notes Shiraz. “There is no attitude, but plenty of energy and passion.” Which pretty much describes Shiraz. “I want our clients to enjoy every moment within the salon,” says Shiraz. “And, most important, I want our clients to leave with the confidence that friends, family and neighbors will say, “I love your hair.”
